We currently utlize a script that creates a home folder then calls xcacls.vbs
that sets home folder permissions and ownership for the user. This script has
worked flawlessly until we migrated to a new SAN & respective attached NAS in
which case the folder is created but permissions and ownership settings are
no longer set. When xcacls.vbs runs the following error is generated for each
permission / ownership it attempts to set:
Error: -2147217339 which by description is Server Buffers are full data
cannot be accepted:
First let me say I am not one of the architects of the SAN/NAS solution so
my knowledge in that area is a little limited however I do know the following:
The new NAS is running fine with no issues on Windows Storage Server 2003 R2
with DFS running
Old NAS is running Windows Server 2003 Appliance Edition Build
3790.srv03_rtm.030324-204a no DFS
The script still runs fine on the older NAS. As a result I am confident it
is not a scripting or syntax problem.
Has anyone seen this before or know if there is some limitation on
xcacls.vbs that would prevent it from working properly in this scenario, with
DFS, or against Storage Server 2003 R2?
Note: I have tried running the script against the DFS path name and its
actual server unc path location with the same results.
Thanks
