Can someone please advise if there is a script or someway of informing users
(generally applicable to contractors) that there user account (not password)
is about to expire?

Why not use the built-in feature of the O/S that advises them of this X
number of days in advance, also giving the option to change the password
immediately?

If it is your idea to inform them by sending an email to an external
address, I would generally recommend against that for basic security
reasons.

Have you identified a specific need for doing this with a script?
