Product Key for current XP install on remote PC (getting)I have a PC running XP Pro in a workgroup but no working user accounts
(passwords no longer accepted) and I want to re-install it, but the PID sticker has been damaged (unreadable). I know there are tools that can get the PID Key from a running system you are logged on to, but have not seen one that can run from a remote PC. Can I use WMI or another means to obtain the 25 character (Windows XP) installation key remotely? As in: -boot PC1 to logon screen -from PC2 run a script to obtain the PID from PC1 (I presume it's in either in the WMI tree or in the registry 'somewhere' and hope I can extract it remotely) Any other idea's?

I think I'll try using "ntadmin" to reset the passwords and hope for the best.
