Hi,

I'm using group policy's in my domain.  The gpo's i defined are not being
applied.
When i run gpresult.exe it displays the correct gpo's.
DNS settings seem to be working.  I get te following error in UserEnv.log
USERENV(204.208) 16:23:24:778 UnloadUserProfileP: Didn't unload user profile
<err = 19>
USERENV(204.208) 16:23:25:541 ReconcileFile: Unable to open temporary file
USERENV(204.208) 16:24:27:467 Profile was loaded but the Ref Count is 1 !!!
USERENV(204.f00) 16:24:28:090 GetGPOInfo:  Local GPO's gpt.ini is not
accessible, assuming default state.
USERENV(204.e24) 16:24:50:065 PolicyChangedThread: UpdateUser failed with
1008.
USERENV(204.208) 16:25:14:391 UnloadUserProfileP: Didn't unload user profile
<err = 19>
USERENV(204.208) 16:25:14:920 ReconcileFile: Unable to open temporary file
USERENV(204.208) 16:26:03:682 Profile was loaded but the Ref Count is 1 !!!
USERENV(204.abc) 16:26:04:228 GetGPOInfo:  Local GPO's gpt.ini is not
accessible, assuming default state.

Can somebody help me with this problem.

Frederik,

It looks like there is a problem with accessing some needed files.  Are
there any problems with permissions on your SYSVOL shared folder?  Have they
been changed?

Also, are you looking on the clients themselves (assuming Windows XP Pro)?
Look in the event logs and look for eventID 1058 and 1030.  Do you have
those?

Also, what version NOS are you running (Windows 2000 Server or Windows
Server 2003) and what client are you running (Windows 2000 Professional or
Windows XP Professional).  GPResult can be used on both, so that does not
give us any hint as to the desktop OS.

Now, one thing that looks interesting is this:

USERENV(204.f00) 16:24:28:090 GetGPOInfo:  Local GPO's gpt.ini is not
accessible, assuming default state.

Is this a GPO set at the local level (via gpedit.msc) or a GPO linked to the
Site-level, the Domain-level or the OU-level?

Since there is also the 'Did not unload user profile' error in there several
times have you looked at this as a possible solution:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b286e6d-8912-4e18-b570-42470e2f3582&displaylang=en

It is a download from Microsoft.  It is well know in Terminal Services
circles and in environments that make use of Roaming / Mandatory profiles.
It could also help here.

Paul Williams [MVP]
As Cary says, it looks like a permissions problem on
%systemroot%\system32\GroupPolicy

What are the application logs saying?  Userenv and Scecli.
