For some reason, when i run an export with CSVDE, the fields in -l are output
in a different order.  Has anyone seen this before ?

thanks.

Well, I use ldifde and I have never seen this happen.  Ldifde is something
very similar to csvde.

Can you show us the syntax that you have used?  I will run it in my test
domain (no promise as to when this might happen...should be today, but with
two little ones what you would like to do and what you can actually do
sometimes do not coincide!).

Hi,

No matter what order you specify the attributes (using the -l switch), they
are output in a fixed order. This is the same order you see if you specify
no attributes (use neither the -l or the -o switch). This fixed order is
kind of semi-alphabetical.

If you need a different order I would import the file into a spreadsheet and
arrange as desired. Also, the DN field is always first, whether asked for or
not (even though distinguishedName, which is identical, is treated as a
separate attribute).

ok, thanks.  I needed to know because one of our developers built a tool and
uses CSVDE for outputting some directory info, then reads the file later.
funny thing is that it doesn't seem to always do this.

as a workaround, I am using Joe Richard's adfind.exe which now has a CSV
output option.

much thanks to Joe --- saving time for lot's of people, again.  MS, could
you please make this guy a sweet deal so he can show you the tools and
functionality we really need ?
