We are currently palnning a disaster recovery site. We currently have a
single forest with 3 domains. We have a empty root, a accounts domain, and a
workstation domain. Is it possible to restore just the accounts domain in
the event of a disaster without retoring the root domain to allow users to
authenticate and no other dc were available?

Thanks
Arun

You will need to restore your root Domain, before you can restore the
accounts Domain - presuming it is a child.  When you restore the root you
will need to ensure that all FSMO role holder Domain Controllers are restore
or consolidated onto DCs you chose to restore.

Arun,

No, not really possible.  In this environment if you loose your root domain
then you have lost everything.

And, I am very curious why you have this setup?  Not challenging you, just
curious why you have a user account object domain and a computer account
object domain (presumably as children domains.....the other possibility is
that you have three domain trees)

Yeah, we did a upgrade in place from NT and thought that would be the easiest
way. Good point, we are actually in the process of colapsing our w.s domain.

Thanks
