Some of my reverse DNS pointer (PTR) entries automatically generate a
duplicate entry with their old IP address. Some even delete themselves and I have to recreate them. Any idea why this may be happening? Thanks, Emil Hi Emil,
I have some questions to you: -- Do you have a DHCP server installed and running on this network? -- Do your DNS Server is configured to authorize dynamic updates on that? If yes for both questions, probably the new PRTs are new computers that are being connected to your network and the DHCP server is assigning new ip addresses for them, registering automatically those new ip addresses assigned into the DNS Server. When they are deleted, probably the DNS Server was requested by the DHCP Server to eliminate the PTR Record when an expired lease occurred. Let me know if you need more information, and I will try to help you. ~Adriana pd.: for further information: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816592/en-us Show quoteHide quote "Emil" wrote: > Some of my reverse DNS pointer (PTR) entries automatically generate a > duplicate entry with their old IP address.
