TC,

What do you mean by 'update/synch' its profile?  Do you mean make sure that
it has the latest and greatest GPOs?  If that is the case then look at
gpudate.  However, please note that GPOs that are configured to affect the
computer configuration side are applied at startup.  And note that GPOs that
are configured to affect the user configuration side are applied at logon.
Also, note that there are startup/shutdown GPOs just as there are
logon/logoff GPOs.

Also, please note that there is something called background processing.  I
*believe* that this happens every 90 minutes with a 30 minute plus/minus for
Member Servers and Workstations and that this happens every five minutes for
Domain Controllers.  However, Background Processing is not available to all
types of GPOs.  And this makes sense.

Or, are you talking about the secure channel that the computer account
object has with a Domain Controller?

Am I answering your question or am I way off base?

Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay getting back to you.

What I mean by ""update/sync" its profile" is anything that is not done
by folder redirection, etc in my case application data, desktop, etc. I
am noticing things don't always seem to update which creates some issues
when logging in from more then one computer.

Thank you,

TC

Okay,

This was a bit delayed.  Very sorry.

There is something called Background Processing that happens every 90
minutes (plus/minus an offset of ca. 30 minutes).  This will take care of
the security 'stuff'.  As you mentioned, it does not affect the folder
redirection, software installation, etc. settings.

If you want to make sure that the security settings are up to date the you
could try running gpudate.  The replaces the good ole boy secedit.

Now, if you are finding that you are having problems on WINXP Pro systems
only then you might want to look at the 'logon optimization' issue.  This is
something new to WINXP Pro...
