Hi all. I would like to know if it is possible to use group policy to disable
all 3g modems that connect to PCs via usb or pcmcia. The reason for this is
because i do not want my users to connect to the internet while connected to
my office network. Pls advise. Thks in advance.

Hello inenewbl,

If you have OS version XP or higher you can use Group policy preferences
to close ports. Therefore you have to install Client side extensions on the
machines and administer them with Vista or windows server 2008 and RSAT.

Download and install RSAT on Vista/2008:

RSAT 32bit:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9FF6E897-23CE-4A36-B7FC-D52065DE9960&displaylang=en

RSAT 64bit:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=D647A60B-63FD-4AC5-9243-BD3C497D2BC5&displaylang=en

Then open Control Panele, Programs and features, Turn windows features on
or off, check the tools you like under "Remote Server Administration Tools"

Hello inenewbl,

The Client side extensions also work for 2003, but for administration you
need a Vista/server 2008.
