Transfering/seizig of PDC role

Hi guys

Let's say I have two DC, DC1 and DC2, running in a domain. DC1 is holding the PDC role and is configured to sync it's time with a extenal time source. If we transfer the PDC role to DC2, what else we will need to do to complete the process? We will need to configure DC2 to sync the time with the extenal time source rite? Then how about DC1? Do we need to do any NTP related configuration on DC1?

Hello Domon,

You have to configure the new PDCEmulator to the external time source and
remove it according to this on the old one:

Domon,
besides following the procedure referenced by Meinolf, remember to perform
corresponding firewall changes...

Hi
Although its the default, is not mandatory to have the Time Server in PDCe.
What is recommend is to have a DC configured as the Authoritative time
server for the Domain/forest. And that DC should sync its time with a
reliable time server (it doesn't have to be a external time server).

I hope that the information above helps you.
Have a Nice day.

Jorge - that's correct - however the OP stated that an external time source
was being used...
