applying computer settingsThe power went out few times. The server was not on UPS. and now when I
logon it says "applying computer settings". It has been like this for almost 24 hours. I did a dirty shutdown twice with the same results. The server is working fine. I can access all resources. I looked at the log but there was nothing to report. The function of the server is as follow: 1. domain controller 2. DNS server 3. DHCP server 4. Spam server. 5. Exchange front end. All 5 work fine. I just can not logon. Any suggestions. I know that you said that you are not on a UPS, but could you by
chance have the PowerChute software installed? If so, you may want to look at this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905716 How do I find out if I the powerChute installed? I can access the c drive. I
can see the log files and I can access services remotely. If you can't login to get to them, go to another server and open event viewer and choose to open this server's event log to take a look, Is there more than one DC? Does this server have more than one NIC? Also please post an unedited ipconfig /all of this server. Since this server holds many roles (more than I would be comfortable with because of Exchange on a DC), I assume you have a recent successful backup jusgt in case there is something other than a possible Power Chute software problem? -- Ace This posting is provided "AS-IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.
