Folder Redirection in Windows 2003 ServerHey,
I have configured a Group Policy in the "Small Business Server Client Computer" GP to provided folder redirections for the clients logged into other systems on the domain. The settings are just basic settings so that the client will create a folder in a share on teh server when it loggs in. I have logged in from a client computer and the folders get created on the server but no files are ever transfered to the server. I am using forwarding for the Desktop, My Docs, and Apllication data and all of them have no files in them on the server when there are files stored on the local machines folders. I am not sure why they are not being moved over. If anyone could help me understand this further it would be great. Thanks Ryan Have you checked the shared folder permission first?

I look at the logs again on the client machine and its said that it cannot complete the action because "the security descriptors structer is invalid" I am looking up what could possably cause this problem and everything should be solved. I have double checked the permissions on the share and the GPO and Domain users do have proper access to both of them. Please look at this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;840885 Show quoteHide quote "SoupR" wrote: > Hey some new information > I look at the logs again on the client machine and its said that it cannot > complete the action because "the security descriptors structer is invalid" I > am looking up what could possably cause this problem and everything should be > solved. Thanks for the information. Unfortunatly all computers are running Windows XP exept the server which is 2003 SBS Standerd. The hotfix is said to be only for Win2K. I have solved some of my problem. I deleted every user and computer on the server from active directory and everywhere else. I readded every user and computer again, deleted every empty folder created by the policy (since it would create the folders then fail) and tried again. To my amazment, my documents and desktop now were using folder redirection. But Application data was not. Now all three were set up exactly the same (checked 6 times just to be sure). Is there something on the client side I am not understanding, I have given the clients admin access to the local computer and Domain User access to the server, share, and GPO. I hope this provides more information. Thanks, Ryan Show quoteHide quote "Irwin, MCSE,MCDBA,MCT" wrote: > Hi Ryan, > > Please look at this: > http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;840885 > > > "SoupR" wrote: > > > Hey some new information > > I look at the logs again on the client machine and its said that it cannot > > complete the action because "the security descriptors structer is invalid" I > > am looking up what could possably cause this problem and everything should be > > solved.
