Group Policy item applies the first time I login then no moreI hope I am posting in the proper place. I have set up a pc with win xp pro all patches. Connecting to a win 2003 SBS all patches. i joined the pc to the domain using http://<server>/connectcomputer, after I configured the pc on the SBS server with the set up client computer wizard. Next I created a new GPO that just changed the IE Browser title bar to display "Provided By:AJINC" a quick visual just to make sure the policy was being applied. I then linked that GPO to an OU I created. When I logged on the browser had the effect I was expecting "IE Browser title bar to displayed "Provided By:AJINC" , but after I logged off, and back on the effect stop appearing. I can't figure out why it stopped appling/displaying the effect. below is the result of my gpresult any idaes are appreciated MMJII Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195] (C) Copyright 1985-2000 Microsoft Corp. Why does the gpresult output say "Windows 2000" when you're talking about XP and 2003 ? The pc is a Win 2K Pro, but I have a Win XP Pro pc that does the same thing. As far as why I set it up the way I did 1. Novice to GP, and working on trying to get it together. 2. Was under the impression that you should not modify the "Default" GPO information (although you say "link" which is probably not changing I understand you point thanks" 3. Novice to GP That being said. The OU is at the domain level above the "Domain Controllers" OU. The OU has 2 acct's in it , and the Authenticated users acct removed. The OU has 2 GPO liked to it IE Browser - modifies the IE title bar SBS WSUS - User that get updates from internal update server. Is there an atricle that could explain the basics of GP design? I may not have done this properly, but strangely enough I have figured out why it was not working. I have a Win 2K Adv Server running AD as a PDC on the same network as the 2K3 SBS when I disconect the 2K server the SBS GPO is applied and the IE browser bar is changed to what I specified in the GP. I guess I need to demote the 2K server then bring it in as a child of the SBS server, or just demote the 2K server? Any toughts here are greatly welcome. Any info on that would be appreciated as well.
