Manage Passwords is confusing meWe created a user in the domain OURDOMAIN called NEWUSER with pass NEWPASS (using AD Users and Groups on the AD controller). User logs on to the local computer COMPUTERNAME with logon COMPUTERLOGON. User tries to connect to a shared disk drive on OURDOMAIN (actually the resource is listed as \\DOMAINCONTROLLER\SHARENAME), gets prompted for username and password, enters NEWUSER and NEWPASS, can use the files on the disk. Now to avoid the user having to type this in all the time, I went to Manage my Network Passwords, and clicked Add. I used OURDOMAIN for Server, OURDOMAIN\NEWUSER for User, and NEWPASS for Password. This must not be right, since the user still gets prompted for username and password when he connects to the shared folder. The dialog box help question mark thingie says that for Server, I can enter a "server name or domain name". For User Name, I can "type or select the user name that is required by the server". I put OURDOMAIN\NEWUSER. Maybe that should have been DOMAINCONTROLLER\NEWUSER? Probably. I can't try it right now but I will later. Thanks for any clarification. David Walker try 'newuser@ourdomain', sometimes that works when domain\user doesn't.
