ReplicationI have a query regarding DC replications
What would be the effect if the Additional domain controller is out of the replication bussines for more than two days due to link down. Will the replication take place once the link is up between the Root DC and ADC. Is there a minimum time prescribed for the DC to be UP and running Thanks in Advance when a link is down between 2 DCs and those DCs replicate with each other...
both will log events in the event log because replication is not possible. They will do that until the link is repaired and available again. However, you MUST make sure DCs replicate at least once within the tombstone lifetime. The value for the tombstone lifetime for a forest is: W2K (any SP): 60 days (fresh installed) W2K3: 60 days (fresh installed) W2K3 SP1: 180 days (fresh installed) W2K3 SP1: 60 days (upgraded from W2K3 to W2K3 Sp1) -- Show quoteHide quoteCheers, (HOPEFULLY THIS INFORMATION HELPS YOU!) # Jorge de Almeida Pinto # MVP Windows Server - Directory Services BLOG --> http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/default.aspx ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- * This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties and confers no rights! * Always test before implementing! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- "rahul" <ra***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AF9D971A-52B8-4308-9EF1-494DA2697E5B@microsoft.com... >I have a query regarding DC replications > > What would be the effect if the Additional domain controller is out of the > replication bussines for more than two days due to link down. > Will the replication take place once the link is up between the Root DC > and > ADC. just to add to it. The backud data of AD more that 60days is of no use then.. do we need to maintain the tapes older that 60days for AD. The backed up data of AD, more than 60days is of no use then.. do we need to maintain the backup tapes older that 60days for AD. is there any proper back method or Best practise for AD Show quoteHide quote "Jorge de Almeida Pinto [MVP]" wrote: > when a link is down between 2 DCs and those DCs replicate with each other... > both will log events in the event log because replication is not possible. > They will do that until the link is repaired and available again. replicate with another DC. When the DC comes back online, it will form connection objects with other DCs and replicate in all changes which occured whilst it was down. Note: Do not leave a DC offline for more than the tombstone period (60 days by default) neil Show quoteHide quote "rahul" wrote: > I have a query regarding DC replications > > What would be the effect if the Additional domain controller is out of the > replication bussines for more than two days due to link down. > Will the replication take place once the link is up between the Root DC and > ADC.
