Windows 2000 server with xp clientsI have windows 2000 server with xp clients. All of a sudden, it is dragging and running very slow. It takes about 5 minutes to attach a small file from the server. It takes lot of time to click the network drive and look for some files. About atleast 4 times a day, it just disconnect map drives, network drive for all the users. I would really appreciate if someone please show me how to check and fix the network speed problem and what to do about map drive or network drive being disconnected every now and then. To the best of my knowledge my DNS is working fine. Thanks Mac, you should check if your switch is failing, or the nic/nics on
your server before you start on the software side. is it a group of workstations, is it all, does the internet disconnect also, etc...? hope it helps. post your outcome to move into software. Mac wrote:

the server or network drives. Do you think if I add another Nic card to my server and connect that network card that might help. client computer and see if it does the same. That will narrow it down to where the problem is.
